Simon’s Easter Spring in his step
All forgiven and time to restore
At breakfast on Galilee’s shore
Now ‘Peter the rock’ where his seat is set

Simon’s throne of purple on August twelfth
Replete in regal robe and cloaked with stealth
In ermine, emerald and gold
Simon’s royal secret not often told

He’s disappearing from sight
Under ghostly counterpane
Silently and gently lain
Not out of mind but out of sight

Final shimmer shivers before dark
Faint hint of butter on his chin?
But all buttercups are now turned in
And Simon too will sleep till dawn’s first lark
